SET Collective is a company of artists deeply committed to the collaborative process. We foster a non-hierarchical model of leadership in performance, playwriting, and production. We find that this model facilitates open dialogue, which translates to an expanded point of view and increased inventiveness. In our experience, the growth of a piece often corresponds with our own growth as artists, thinkers, and creators. By applying this collective approach, we discover a fresh resonance and relevance in both original and established works, and their importance in the cultural landscape of today.

Past Productions

  • Macbeth

SET Collective’s original adaptation, stripped down to a feverish 90 minutes, featuring five actors (two women, three men) who portray Macbeth for one act each.

  • The Birds & The Bees

A trilogy of plays by the late Louis Catron, exploring how trust and intimacy express themselves throughout the stages of life.

  • The Octopus

An original farce by Nathan Dennis. The Octopus is the story of a 22-year-old Sicilian-American who returns to Sicily to find himself caught between the competing worlds of the mafia and the pressing motives of the US Navy, but ultimately forges his own path to manhood.

  • The Appassionata

Written by Jeffrey Harper and based on “Minuet in a Minefield,” by Cornelia Ravenal. Beethoven’s Appassionata Sonata acts as an integral, virtual character in this drama, in which a young conservatory student must choose between her family’s destruction and the destruction of her self.
